Recently, I realised just how much I missed learning and learning something purely for myself.
Don’t get me wrong, having your first child teaches you something new every single day (and it never stops!). But there’s something incredibly rewarding about choosing to improve yourself for no other reason than personal growth.
This was my biggest realisation from week one of Code-in-Place, a free course Stanford University offers once a year.

🟢 Here’s what I’ve learned (so far):
- Learning again feels fantastic. It stimulates your brain, pushes your skills, and gives you a sense of genuine accomplishment.
- It’s also slightly terrifying. Learning something new means admitting what you don’t know. It means being vulnerable, asking questions, and occasionally feeling uncomfortable.
- There’s immense power in community. Learning alongside others, sharing insights and challenges, has already connected me with some fantastic people.
🟢 Why am I sharing this with you?
Because I see you doing the same thing. You’re here, improving your English, stepping out of your comfort zone, and pushing yourself forward every day.
🟢 Take a moment today:
- Celebrate your progress.
- Acknowledge your bravery in learning something new.
- Remember, every small step counts, and I genuinely see and appreciate your effort.
🟢 Quick challenge for you this week:
Ask yourself:
- What’s one small new thing you can learn or practise this week to push yourself slightly outside your comfort zone?
Learning might be scary, but it’s also one of the most rewarding journeys we ever take.
I’m proud of you. Keep going!
